NATIONAL MOSQUE PROJECT

As part of our commitment in the pursuit of Islamic excellence, NASFAT is embarking on the construction of a five billion naira befitting Mosque within an Islamic Centre on its 28 hectare piece of land situated at Mowe along Lagos/Ibadan Express Road, about twenty minutes drive from Lagos.  The Mosque, together with its ancillary facilities will, insha Allah, be a magnificent Islamic monument which will be constructed with a good deal of attention to architectural and aesthetic details to the glory of Allah.  The Mosque will serve as a catalyst to further encourage and propel the growth and practice of Islam in Nigeria.  Indeed, it is not just going to be a mosque, it will be a citadel of learning and research.                                           2

The construction work for the first phase is expected to last for about two years and we plan to provide the following facilities among others:

>        A functional big mosque together with its courtyard and adjoining prayer area to accommodate up to 80,000 worshippers.

>        A small prayer hall to cater for daily use by worshippers who work around the area.

>        Islamic Educational section containing a Library and Classrooms for the young and the adult.

>        Conference auditorium.
>        Residential apartment to house resident Imam and visitors.

>          Health Centre

>          Borehole and water treatment.

>        Generators

>        Landscaping

>          Security House.

We believe that raising funds for the project is by no means a monumental challenge.  We however believe that insha Allah, with the support of our members, and other well meaning Nigerians coupled with your publicity efforts aimed at creating awareness and getting support, we are optimistic that we would accomplish the task before us.

We have considered a lot of options and modalities for fund raising.  We are going to take full advantage of the numerical strength of our organisation to mobilise funds internally.

In addition, we are making use of flagbearers to raise funds.  Our flagbearers are highly committed and accomplished service-minded Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their professions, occupations, business, government and on other spheres of the society.                                                                                                                      3

Flagbearers are expected to sacrifice part of their time, use the leverage and positions they have worked hard to attain through Allah’s grace to uplift Islam.  They will reach out to friends, colleagues, business associates, relations, and individuals within and outside Nigeria.

Our message to NASFAT’s members, fellow Muslims and other well meaning citizens of Nigeria is very clear.  Participation in the building of a Mosque is one of the meritorious acts that could be performed in sincere pursuit of Allah’s pleasure and favour; and, to have His blessings.  We therefore invite all Muslims and well meaning people and organisations in Nigeria and beyond to join hands with us in building a befitting place of worship and creating a suitable environment to further propagate Islam. We need assistance.  We appeal for support and we look forward to generous donations in cash and in kind for this worthy Islamic cause in the spirit of Allah’s promise in the Glorious Qur’an which says “If you help in the cause of Allah, He will help you and strengthen you.” – Qur’an 47 verse 7.
